Daring the Old Gods… Defying the New.
Rob of Loxley is not yet the stuff of legend. Nevertheless, legend seems intent upon him. Initiate to the druidic priesthood in which his family are leaders, Rob, along with his elder sister Marion, are meant to inherit the last remnants of the Old Religion. But chance brings a newer religion into the forest in the unlikely person of Gamelyn, a devout nobleman’s son who befriends Rob and Marion.
Or is it chance? The eldest of the druids claims Rob and Gamelyn are surely cast as mortal enemies, Winter and Summer locked in timeless and symbolic struggle for the greenwood’s Maiden. Instead, a defiant Rob dares his Horned God to reinterpret the ancient rites, allow Rob to take Gamelyn as lover instead of rival. In the eyes of Gamelyn’s Church, however, sodomy is unthinkable… and the old pagan magics are an evil that must be vanquished.
Daring the Old gods… defying the New.
Book 1 of the Wode

Not unlike what the best selling Mists of Avalon achieved with Arthurian legend, The Books of the Wode bring a fresh new perspective
to the legends of Robin Hood, in a Britain caught in ideological struggle between Christianity and Paganism.
